Our Services
Different conversations. Different relationships. More possibilities.
Different conversations. Different relationships. More possibilities.
At Mountain View Therapy, we offer virtual Narrative Therapy for individuals, couples, and families throughout Massachusetts.
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes there's a particular problem that's been taking up too much space. Other times, people are looking to better understand themselves, navigate changes, strengthen relationships, or explore what matters most to them.
Whatever brings you here, we believe you are the expert on your own life. Our role is to bring curiosity, thoughtful questions, and new perspectives to conversations that can open up possibilities.
A space to explore the stories shaping your life.
Individual therapy offers an opportunity to step away from the expectations and demands of everyday life and spend time exploring your experiences, relationships, values, and hopes.
You might be navigating anxiety, depression, grief, identity questions, relationship challenges, or a major life transition. Or you might simply be curious about yourself and the direction your life is taking.
In Narrative Therapy, we don't assume that problems define who you are. Instead, we explore how problems have influenced your life, the stories that have developed around them, and the experiences that might offer a different perspective.
Together, we can make room for stories that reflect more of who you are and what matters to you.
Your relationship doesn't have to follow someone else's rules.
Relationships are shaped by the people in them, the experiences they bring, and the expectations they've encountered about what relationships are supposed to look like.
Sometimes those expectations fit. Sometimes they create tension, confusion, or a sense that something is wrong when a relationship doesn't follow a familiar path.
We work with couples and people in a variety of relationship structures, including monogamous, polyamorous, and ethically non-monogamous relationships.
Our therapists create space for conversations about communication, trust, intimacy, conflict, limits, connection, and the hopes people hold for their relationships.
Rather than deciding what a successful relationship should look like, we're interested in helping you explore what kind of relationship you want to create together.
Making room for different perspectives and new ways of relating.
Families carry many stories about who they are, how they relate to one another, and the roles each person is expected to play.
Over time, some of these stories can become difficult to change. A family member might become known as the difficult one, the responsible one, or the person who always causes conflict.
Family therapy creates opportunities to examine these familiar descriptions, understand how problems affect family relationships, and explore experiences that may have been overlooked.
We approach family conversations with curiosity and respect for the different perspectives people bring.
Our hope is to help families develop richer understandings of one another and discover new ways of connecting, communicating, and moving forward together.
Sometimes others notice things in our stories that we haven't yet seen ourselves.
At Mountain View Therapy, we're interested in the ways people can support one another in recognizing the stories, values, and commitments that matter most to them.
Our support groups draw on Narrative Therapy practices that give participants opportunities to share meaningful stories from their lives and reflect on what they hear in the stories of others.
These conversations can help people feel seen, discover connections, and develop richer understandings of their own experiences.
Our groups are offered virtually, with specific groups designed around shared experiences and communities.
What Connects All of Our Services?
The person is not the problem. The problem is the problem.
Whether you're meeting with a therapist individually, with a partner, with family members, or in a group, our work is grounded in Narrative Therapy.
That means we're interested in understanding how problems influence people's lives without treating those problems as defining characteristics.
We're also curious about the ways relationships, communities, culture, and social expectations shape the stories available to us.
Most importantly, we believe that people bring valuable knowledge, skills, values, and experiences into therapy even when problems have made those things difficult to recognize.
