Polyamory and Non-Monogamy Affirming Therapy
Affirming online therapy for polyamorous, ethically non-monogamous, and consensually non-monogamous people and relationships throughout Massachusetts.
Relationships come in many forms, and there isn't one right way to love, connect, or build a meaningful life with others.
At Mountain View Therapy, we believe your relationship structure isn't something that needs to be fixed. Whether you're polyamorous, practicing ethical non-monogamy, exploring relationship anarchy, or questioning traditional expectations about relationships, you deserve a therapist who approaches your experiences with curiosity rather than judgment.
You shouldn't have to spend your therapy sessions explaining or defending your relationship structure. And you shouldn't have to worry that your therapist will automatically assume non-monogamy is the source of whatever challenges you're experiencing.
We welcome individuals, couples, and people navigating a wide range of relationship structures.
Navigating jealousy and insecurity • Communication and relationship agreements • Balancing different needs and expectations • Exploring boundaries and autonomy • Navigating changes in relationship structures • Managing time, energy, and emotional connections • Coming out as polyamorous or non-monogamous • Family and societal expectations • Building trust and connection • Finding community and belonging
Many of us grow up surrounded by stories about what relationships are supposed to look like: find one person, fall in love, build a life together, and live happily ever after.
These stories can be so woven into the fabric of our culture that we may not even notice how they influence our expectations, decisions, and ideas about what makes a relationship successful.
Narrative Therapy invites us to get curious about these stories. Where did our ideas about love, commitment, loyalty, intimacy, and family come from? Which expectations fit with our values, and which ones might be limiting the ways we want to connect with others?
Rather than telling you what your relationships should look like, our therapists are interested in understanding what matters to you and the people in your life. Together, we can explore the relationships you want to build, the values you want to guide them, and the possibilities that emerge when you have room to define those things for yourself.
Sometimes you want to talk about your relationships. Sometimes you don't.
You might be navigating anxiety, grief, work stress, family dynamics, identity, or a major life transition. You might feel happy and secure in your relationships and simply want a therapist who understands that your life includes more than one meaningful romantic connection.
Finding an affirming therapist means you don't have to spend your time explaining why your relationship structure is valid before you can talk about the things that brought you to therapy.
At MVT, we want to make room for all the stories of your life, not just the ones about your relationships.
Our clinicians bring different experiences, interests, and therapeutic styles to their work. Some have a particular interest in polyamory and non-monogamy, while others bring an affirming, curious approach to exploring relationships and identity.
